Camping in Alicante, what do you need to know?

We are not going to deny that going to a hotel has many advantages. However, going camping in Alicante can have similar advantages and also provide you with others. Before you get to know them, we want to show you some areas of the capital and the province that you can’t miss on your next visit. At the end of these lines any doubts you may have will have been cleared up. From Camping Villasol we invite you to choose us as your next destination.

What do you need to know before going camping in Alicante?

The area is full of places to enjoy. It is the perfect place not only to go camping in Alicante, but also for many other adventures. We’ll start by recommending some places in the capital that you’ll love to visit, these are some of them:

  • Archaeological Museum of Alicante. Many people do not know that Alicante is home to one of the most important archaeological museums in our country. Going camping is not at all incompatible with discovering some of the cultural treasures that the area has to offer. It has very valuable pieces and will take you on a journey from the most ancient times to the present day.
  • Postiguet Beach. Cultural visits are great, but if you come to the capital you can’t miss the Postiguet Beach. Moreover, in low season it is usually very quiet. It is surrounded by all the services you need to have a great day out.
  • Alicante Marina. Not far from the Postiguet beach is the Alicante Marina. You’re sure to enjoy seeing the boats anchored at the quay and the atmosphere here. From there you can get to the Explanada de España, another place not to be missed.
  • Santa Bárbara Castle. We can’t leave the capital without visiting the Castle of Santa Bárbara. It is one of the most important medieval fortresses not only in the province, but in the whole country.
  • Barrio de Santa Cruz. Santa Bárbara Castle can be reached from the Barrio de Santa Cruz. It is a charming area with narrow streets and white houses. It is one of the best places to have a drink.
Views from the Port of Alicante.

What towns can you visit if you go camping in Alicante?

There are some villages that you can’t miss if you go camping in the Alicante area, these are some of them:

  • Altea. It is one of the best known villages in the province of Alicante. It can be visited all year round, as the weather allows it. You will love strolling through its many narrow streets, enjoying the craft stalls or having your photo taken next to its whitewashed houses. Going to the beach or strolling around the port area is always a great idea.
  • Benissa. It is one of the lesser known villages in the area, but it is certainly worth a visit. Its Old Town is one of those that best respects the original design. You can also visit the Marina Cathedral, one of the most impressive in the province. If you like hiking, don’t miss the Benissa Ecological Walk. It is only four kilometres long, but it is a real privilege to enjoy its incredible vegetation, while contemplating its coves and cliffs.
  • Calpe. It is a municipality with many tourists in summer, but quieter at other times of the year. The Peñón de Ifach stands out, which is one of the symbols of the land. It is in the middle of the sea and is only joined to the land by a small isthmus. It goes without saying that you will enjoy its beaches, water sports and its abundant gastronomy.
  • Benidorm. If you go to the area, you can’t miss Benidorm, which many know as little New York because of its skyline. However, its Old Town has not lost the charm of the seaside towns. There are several beaches to choose from and even in high season you’ll find quiet spots where you can take a dip.
