Cocentaina Fair, everything you need to know

The All Saints’ Fair of Concentaina is an annual fair held in the municipality of Concentaina, in the province of Alicante. It is believed to have its origins in medieval times, although it is not known exactly what year it began. In this post, we explore everything you need to know to enjoy the Concentaina Fair.

Concentaina Fair History

The Concentaina fair was founded in the 14th century, although some historians believe that it may have been held even earlier. In its early years, the fair focused mainly on the buying and selling of livestock, but over time it became a broader commercial fair that included all kinds of products.

During the Middle Ages, the Concentaina fair became one of the most important in the Valencian Community and attracted traders from all over the region and from other parts of Spain. In the 18th century, the fair began to be held at the time of All Saints’ Day, which gave it its current name.

In the 19th century, the Concentaina fair began to experience difficulties due to competition from other nearby fairs and markets. However, at the beginning of the 20th century, a process of renovation and modernisation began that allowed the fair to recover its importance and popularity.

Today, the Concentaina fair is one of the most important in the Valencian Community and attracts thousands of visitors every year. During the fair, numerous events are held, such as livestock competitions, craft exhibitions, musical performances and tastings of local products. It is also an opportunity for local traders to showcase their products and do business with customers from all over the region.
