Halloween stories for children

The youngest members of the family don’t need much to have fun. They have the capacity to get excited about almost anything and it is really their parents who help them to make their lives fun. Excitement is vital and your children may be feeling it for the holidays coming up in the next few weeks. One of them is almost here. That’s why we show you some Halloween stories for children. You will also discover other alternatives and activities that you can do with the little ones during these days.

What Halloween stories for children can you tell your children these days?

When telling Halloween stories for children you must take into account that they are appropriate for their age. Surely as a parent you know your little ones and you know what their fears are, it’s not about encouraging them, it’s about having fun.

A good idea is to ask your children to start telling Halloween stories themselves. That way you will see what scares them and what does not. We’re not talking about them being terrified at any point, but rather having a good time.

Another thing to think about is that not all your children or the children you invite are the same age, so consider what you can do with all of them. In the end, the aim is for them to have fun, as we have said, not to have nightmares.

Having said that, you have two options when it comes to storytelling: to have someone else make them up or to read a story. The first, as we have just mentioned, can be done by parents or children. If you opt for the latter, you will find many different books within your reach. This list can help you to select some of them:

  • I’m a Zcary Vampire
  • Funnybones
  • Big Pumpkin
  • How to Make Friends with a Ghost
  • Room on the Broom
  • Little Witch
  • Snowmen at Halloween
  • Escarlatina, la cocinera cadáver
  • Series: “Mortina And The Ghost Friend”
  • Series: “Isadora Moon”
  • Series: “The Little Vampire”

Although I’m sure you have some books from other years at home. You can also find stories on the Internet that you can read directly to your children or enjoy audio books. There are videos of this type for children on YouTube.

In addition, you can do other activities that help to set the scene for the scary stories, as we will see later on. First, we would like to show you an interesting alternative to the stories.

What alternative to Halloween stories do you have?

As you can’t be telling stories all the time, on those days on all the channels there are many series or films on Halloween TV. You can also find them on pay TV platforms.

It’s clearly not good advice to keep your children glued to screens all day, but there’s a time for everything. Perhaps on holidays you can be a little more flexible with the hours you allow your little ones to spend watching TV or using the tablet.

A tip that will help you both in the case of stories and in the case of films or series, is to try to ensure that it is not what they listen to or watch just before going to bed. It may lead to them going to bed a little upset, and as a parent you are not interested in this happening.

Now, after seeing this alternative to books, we give you some ideas to set the scene for the stories you tell the little ones on Halloween.

What can you do to make Halloween stories more exciting for your children?

Whether you buy some of the books we have seen or others, or you choose to make up your own stories, you can do something else. For example, you can make or buy costumes to represent some of these characters. If you are good at sewing, it is even more fun to create your own designs.

Setting the scene in the house with some decorations is also a good option. We don’t want to repeat ourselves, but I’m sure that making them at home is much more fun than buying them. They will love designing them, buying the materials, spending an afternoon making them and then decorating your home with their own creations.

For many families, decorating a pumpkin is a must. You should buy them in good time, as they are usually sold out. It is not very complicated to turn this food into a scary face, but you can find tutorials and lots of ideas on the Internet.

You can’t fail to think of a game for those days. You will find them on sale, but you can also invent them. A simple way is to design a board on cardboard, then make some special squares, when you land on them you can have different adventures or challenges and try to make everyone win in the end.

From Camping Villasol, we invite you to enjoy not only the Halloween stories for children, but also to spend those days with us. We are waiting for you. Enjoy Halloween in Benidorm!
