Sports on the beach all year round

Do you know the benefits of practising sport? And better still, practising it on the beach? For those of you who have the chance to live near the sea or are encouraged to visit it in winter or summer, we propose different sports that you can do on the beach all year round.

We know that there is nothing better than practising sports outdoors while enjoying the sea breeze and a little bit of sun, so in this post we tell you about all the sports you can do on the beach all year round, with friends, your partner, with children or on your own. Keep reading!

1. Volleyball and beach football

Volleyball is probably one of the most popular beach sports. In addition, many beaches have nets to practice this sport, you only need a ball and several people, so go for it! It’s one of the sports that works the whole body the most, nothing better to get in shape and get some colour while practising this fun team sport.

Beach football is also another typical sport that you can play with a group of friends on the beach at any time of the year. Many coasts have goals, or you can create them yourself by taking a series of measurements and distances. Fun is guaranteed! And if you’re up for it afterwards, you can take a dip to cool off.

2. Paddles

Who hasn’t played beach paddle tennis at some point? This is a simple way of practising sport on the beach, and it can be done all year round. On the sand, on the shore or in the water. All you need is two paddles and a small ball.

This sport never fails in the summer and it’s very common to play touch football without the ball touching the ground. How many touches can you manage? It’s perfect for playing with friends or children.

3. Surf

Many people travel specifically to practice this sport on specific beaches that are well known for the quality of their waves. If you are lucky enough to live near the sea and, moreover, in a place that tends to have good waves, you are in luck. Surfing is one of the most popular water sports in our country and we are sure you will be fascinated by it!

If you have never practiced it don’t worry, there are schools and professionals who can give you some private lessons or notions to make you feel safer in the water. All you need is a board and lots and lots of balance.

4. Paddle Surf

This surfing variant has also become very fashionable in recent years. It consists of paddling standing up on a board, although at first you can go on your knees until you gain confidence.

It’s all about keeping your balance while paddling, you’ll work your whole body! It is advisable to do it as long as the sea is calm. This is a sport that appeals to both adults and children. You can discover places that are difficult to access such as caves or coves from your board, and even share it and make a tandem. Are you ready to see how long you can hold on without falling off the board?

5. Yoga

Did you know that there is a variant of yoga known as “sup yoga” that is practised on a paddle surf board? Sup yoga is a variant of paddle surfing, but performing all those yoga postures on the board, quite a challenge, don’t you think?

The practice of yoga is quite common, and it is also a perfect sport to practice on the beach all year round. Disconnecting and connecting body and mind while listening to the sea breeze and contemplating the first and last rays of the sun is ideal for relaxing while practising this sport.

If you decide to practice yoga on the beach, you will work your muscles much harder because of the uneven and unstable surface of the sand. Not only that, but it will also force you to concentrate more on maintaining your balance while practising different postures. Its location by the sea favours relaxation, which is essential in the practice of this discipline.

6. Running

Whether it’s winter or summer, if you love running you can do it on the beach. Running on the beach offers multiple benefits such as reducing stress and anxiety, strengthening the whole body and increasing calorie burn. It is always advisable to do it at times when the sun is not too strong.

7. Diving

Diving underwater is another type of sport that you can do on the beach all year round, but if you decide to do it in winter we recommend that you wear a wetsuit. You have two alternatives: scuba diving, which unless you are an expert, you will need to be accompanied by a professional, or snorkelling, a much simpler option in which you only need goggles, a snorkel and fins. You can do the latter on your own.

Not only will you be exercising your whole body without even realising it, but you will also be discovering the seabed and connecting with nature – dive in and be amazed by nature!

Now that you know all the sports you can practice on the beach all year round and each of their benefits, which one would you like to start with?
