Benidorm Surroundings

Verti-Go in Benidorm, the tallest capsule slide in Europe!

If you’re a thrill-seeker, make sure you take the chance to leap into the unknown with Verti-Go in Benidorm, the tallest capsule slide in Europe. You’ll feel the same adrenaline rush as you would with freefalling, followed by a refreshing splash at the end. Read on to find out more about this attraction for daredevils looking for an unbeatable experience.

The Verti-Go capsule slide in Benidorm

The Verti-Go capsule slide in Benidorm has formed a part of the city’s summer attractions since 2013. This is no normal slide: the fact it uses a capsule form adds an extra element of vertigo. But how does it work?

To access the slide you need to use an uncovered staircase that allows you to take in the surrounding scenery at all times. This ascent alone starts the vertigo. When you reach the top, you enter a transparent capsule through which you can see the whole city and the Mediterranean Sea. The door closes and, when you least expect it, a trapdoor opens and you fall into the abyss.

The position in which you start your descent makes this attraction unique. The trapdoor system gives the impression of freefalling from the get-go. Non-capsule slides have a short flat section before their descent, which makes them progressive.

With this attraction, you freefall for almost 28 metres down a green slide. In just three seconds, you’ll reach a speed of 100 kilometres per hour. But there’s more. The attraction is comprised of two slides. If you choose to launch yourself off the tallest in Europe, you need to continue climbing the stairs. Five metres further up, there is another capsule that will let you fall for 33 metres down a red slide, which is equivalent to jumping off the eleventh floor of a building.

When you reach the end, you’ll slide along a long, almost horizontal section to slow down before gently falling into the pool’s water. The few seconds you’re freefalling for may seem like an eternity but you’ll want to do it all over again. You can do exactly that as you can go down this slide as many times as you like.

What other attractions offer an adrenaline rush?

Verti-Go isn’t the only vertiginous slide around. There are others that also provide an adrenaline rush. For example, the four slides that make up Big-Bang are also impressive. Each one has a different colour; red, green, blue and yellow. The first two, the red and green, are moderate. The blue is extremely steep. The yellow is considered the wildest slide in the park for many people, after the Verti-Go.

Another you should consider is Ciclón, which is one of the park’s newest. It’s not one of the most radical but it can be extremely fun. In addition, it is the world’s longest slide, measuring 200 metres in length.

Ciclón offers tons of twists and turns as you go down on a four-man float and a drop of 40 metres, the majority of which is closed in. The most fun part is when you reach the giant funnel. You’ll spin round and round at great speed, giving you the impression that you’re going to fall out. Finally, you’re absorbed by a new tunnel before falling into the pool.

Others that you need to try are Zig-Zag and Black Hole. Their unexpected twists and darkness will give you more than a few surprises. You’ll feel a sense of vertigo and have so much fun.
