You are probably already thinking about your next holiday or at least a few days off. One of the best options is to get away, as this is when you will have the feeling of having really disconnected. There are many destinations to choose from, and one of the best is undoubtedly the province of Alicante. It has countless places that are worth a visit, some of which are not very well known. In the following lines we will talk about one of them, you will discover what to see in Moraira<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What to see in Moraira on your next visit?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before knowing what to see in Moraira<\/strong> on your next visit, you should know that it is a town located on the Costa Blanca in the province of Alicante. It has less than 2,000 inhabitants and is an area where you can enjoy both the sea and the mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moraira is a town belonging to the municipality of Teulada. <\/strong>It is very close, about 9 kilometres, to Calpe, and a little further away is another well-known municipality, J\u00e1vea<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moraira deserves at least one day of your next holiday, as it has a large number of points of interest, the most outstanding of which are listed below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Moraira Castle.<\/strong> One of the places not to be missed is the castle. Although it is certainly not as you would expect, as it is a defensive construction in the shape of a horseshoe. It was built in the 18th century and houses an exhibition on defence towers, which in this case were built between the 16th and 18th centuries. Its mission was to protect the town from attacks coming from the sea.<\/li>
  • Old Town of Moraira.<\/strong> Like many towns in the area, Moraira has an old town which is well worth a visit. It is true that it is more recent than others, as it was not built until the 19th century, but there are some houses that date back to the time when the castle was built. In the area you will find hotels, holiday homes, shops and restaurants.<\/li>
  • Cap d’Or Tower.<\/strong> It is located in the eastern part of the town, on a small peninsula known as Cap d’Or or “Punta de Moraira”. This tower was built in the 16th century and its purpose was to protect the town from pirate attacks. It is a circular tower, which is about 11 metres high. From the top of the tower you can enjoy incredible views, reaching as far as the Pe\u00f1\u00f3n de Ifach, located in neighbouring Calpe.<\/li>
  • Moraira coves.<\/strong> Of course, if there is one thing you cannot miss in Moraira, it is its coves. For example, you can visit the Cap Blanc Cove, a small cove with no sand, where you can not only swim, but also snorkel. The Galera Cove is also rocky, as well as the Andrag\u00f3 Cove, which has an easy access and natural pools. Although there are more, we will finally mention the Portitxolet Cove, which is located at the entrance to the port of the town.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    • Moraira beaches.<\/strong> Nor should you miss the beaches in this municipality. For example, Playa de l’Ampolla, which is one of the most visited and the longest. You can also visit the beaches known as Les Platgetes, which are small sandy beaches. Also well known is the Portet beach, which is sandy and perfect for a great day out.<\/li>
    • Les Cendres Cave.<\/strong> At the end of Moraira you can access Les Cendres Cave. It is one of the most important archaeological sites not only in the area, but in the whole Valencian Community. In its interior different remains were found, which are believed to be from the Palaeolithic period, as well as ceramic remains from the Neolithic period.<\/li>
    • Teulada.<\/strong> Also not to be missed is the town centre of Teulada, which is just over 5 kilometres from Moraira. It has a very interesting Old Town and you can also visit the Church of Santa Catalina, which was built in the 16th century.<\/li>
    • Hiking routes in Moraira.<\/strong> If you not only want to know what to see in Moraira, but also what to do, apart from going to the beach or visiting some of its points of interest, you can do some of the routes that pass through the town. For example, you can take the route known as the Benitatxell-Moraira Cliffs. Another option is the Barranco de la Viuda Ravine Route, which starts at Portet Beach. Finally, we would like to mention the Font Santa Route, which runs from Teulada to Moraira.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
