When she died due to a curse, Rold\u00e1n removed a piece of the mountain so the sun\u2019s rays could filter through and illuminate her.<\/p>\n

These are not the only fables told but they are the most popular. There are many versions but they all follow the same vein: the piece Puig Campana is apparently missing corresponds to Benidorm Island. What do you reckon?<\/p>\n

As well as there being many stories about it, the island has different names<\/strong>. \u2018Rold\u00e1n\u2019s Slash\u2019 and \u2018Peacock Island\u2019 due to the large number of birds found there are just two of these.<\/p>\n

Expert geologists refute the belief that the island is a piece of Puig Campana as they have different origins and ages. They explain that it actually comes from the Serra Gelada Mountains<\/strong>, to which the island pertained before the stretch of land joining them ended up underwater.<\/p>\n
