Chocolates Valor, a pleasure near Benidorm

Do you like chocolate? All of us who like chocolate know the Valor brand. You may enjoy it more in a cup or you may like it solid, in bars or chocolates. Whatever your usual choice, if you come on vacation to Camping Villasol, you will have many opportunities to taste it. Why? Because the Chocolates Valor factory is just a few kilometers away.

Chocolates Valor factory

The Chocolates Valor factory is in the nearby town of Villajoyosa. Right there they have their museum, which you can visit and where you will learn firsthand its history. You will learn how since 1881 the Lopez family, with Valeriano Lopez Lloret at the head, has taken their local chocolate business further.

Little by little, technological advances are made that allow for expansion. The millstone gives way to the mechanical mill and transportation improves, reaching places as far away as Madrid. Trips at night in summer and in the middle of the day in winter, to avoid being spoiled by the excessive temperatures, take place again and again.

In 1964 they finally settled in a new factory in Villajoyosa. Today they have different varieties to delight the most select palates. They include cup chocolate, bar chocolate, soluble chocolate, chocolate in the form of chocolates and chocolate for confectionery use. Within these there are different types depending on the intensity or complements.

The museum of Chocolates Valor

In addition to the history of Valor, in its museum you will see many photographs about the evolution of the brand. You will understand where the chocolate comes from and how it is made. Through explanations and photographs, you will understand how it was worked. The machines for crushing and processing the pure cocoa will also make you aware of how traditional the whole process was.

Other elements that are part of the museum are the means of transportation. At first it was carried on the backs of donkeys, then moved to carts and finally to motor vehicles. You can see some of these items inside the museum. You will even see a representation of what the office was like where all the orders that were delivered to different parts of Spain were handled.

Although it is not particularly large, the Valor museum is really cozy. The smell of chocolate and the imagination will surely take you back to the times when the product was 100% handmade.

What else to do in Villajoyosa

The visit to this museum will not take you all day. Taking advantage of your visit to Villajoyosa, you can do some sightseeing in the area. One of the activities that you can not miss is to stroll through the town center and visit the hanging houses. These constructions are built on the rock and in some cases supported, in part, by wooden beams. They are very beautiful.

The houses in the fishermen’s quarter are also very curious, with different colors that differentiate them from each other. In the past, these colors were used to differentiate from a distance, from the sea.

You can also walk a little and enjoy the views from the Tossal de la Malladeta. This construction was an Iberian Sanctuary. Now, the construction recalls past times and provides beautiful views of the coast of Alicante.

If you are in the middle of summer, perhaps the best option is to enjoy some of the beaches. There are up to nine different beaches, including coves, urban beaches, semi-urban beaches and beaches of historical or natural value.

Chocolates Valor in Benidorm

If you don’t feel like going to the Chocolates Valor factory, but you do feel like enjoying a delicious chocolate, you’re in luck. The company has a multitude of chocolate shops spread throughout most of Spain. In Benidorm alone there are three. In them you can enjoy a hot chocolate with churros, one of the classics of our gastronomy.

If it is very hot and you feel like an ice cream, you will find chocolate ice creams in any of their stores. This is a unique way to enjoy a delicious chocolate in the middle of summer. Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy one at sunset and, if possible, with a view of the sea.

You can also enjoy Valor chocolates or tablets. They are sold in most supermarkets, with all the varieties and complements you can imagine. They are also available with 0% sugar or lactose-free.

But, although we have told you so much about chocolate, there are many other typical Mediterranean products that you can taste if you come to Camping Villasol. In Benidorm you can enjoy fresh seafood and fish, spectacular rice dishes and a wide variety of products from the garden. In our restaurant you can try some of those that have been talked about.

The Chocolates Valor Museum is a must visit when you come to Benidorm, but there is much more to see and enjoy. There are other museums you can visit that will help you learn more about the history of this region. Plan each day well and make the most of your vacation.
