What to do in Calpe with children?

Calpe is one of the favourite places to visit with the family if you are on holiday on the Costa Blanca, it is an ideal place to go on an excursion if you are enjoying a few days holiday in Benidorm.

Some ideas for visiting Calpe with children

Do you want to know what plans can be made in Calpe with children? We have some that you will love.

Journey through the Mediterranean Sea

A different way to get from our campsite in Benidorm to Calpe is to use a boat which is available in the summer months. The trip takes one hour and you can enjoy the views of the most mountainous area of the Costa Blanca. In addition, the boat has a glass deck so that you can see the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea. With this plan the trip to Calpe will be an experience for the whole family.

The boat also has different destinations like Denia, in case you had planned to make an excursion to different cities, it is an ideal option to move.

Excursion to the Peñón de Ifach

The Peñón de Ifach is one of the best known places in Calpe. It is a large rock that lies at the edge of the sea. Thousands of years ago, this rock was an island, but as time went by it gradually became part of the Peninsula.

It has a path to climb to the top. However, it is a difficult path, even somewhat dangerous for children, so we recommend you do only the first part of the journey, either to the interpretation centre or, if you have a little more experience, to the entrance of the tunnel. For this excursion it is important to be well equipped, so that the adventure is as comfortable as possible: good shoes, water to hydrate yourself and lots of energy.
This is one of the most typical activities that the whole family will enjoy. The views are one of the most beautiful in all of Calpe, don’t forget your camera!

Visit to the Queen’s Baths

Who said history is boring? One of the most emblematic areas of Calpe is a Roman site built almost 2000 years ago! This is the Baños de la Reina, an area that has a Roman site that can be visited and some old Roman nurseries where it is possible to bathe surrounded by history.
In ancient times, the Baños de la Reina were fish farms that possibly belonged to a Roman villa. There are six small rafts that at that time had wooden gates that prevented fish from escaping. Today, these six small natural pools remain, shallow and very well protected from the waves.

Calpe for children: children’s areas

On certain beaches in Calpe, such as Arenal or Fossa, different spaces have been created that have been adapted so that children can enjoy their holidays even more. The play areas or the inflatable platforms in the sea are places where the little ones will have a great time, a different way of being on the beach.
Also, in the centre of Calpe, there are spaces dedicated to children such as parks with slides and swings, a good alternative if your holiday is not in the summer season.

Summer Fairs in Calpe

One of the most common fairs in Calpe is the Craftsmen’s Fair in the summer season. It is held in the old town and has a lot of stalls with handmade objects and crafts in general. For the little ones, there are craft workshops where they can get their most creative side!
Amusement fairs are also typical in the summer, where children will enjoy attractions such as inflatable beds or roller coasters.
We invite you to find out about the dates and times to visit these fairs.

Birds in the Natural Park of the Salinas de Calpe

One of the most beautiful spots in the area is the Paraje Natural de Las Salinas in Calpe. One of the curiosities about this 40 hectare site is its own ecosystem, with particular vegetation, where more than 170 different species of birds have been discovered. Among the few organisms that can live in these salt flats are the crustaceans that are the base of feeding for the flamingos, which without a doubt is the most attractive and interesting animal of the fauna of this habitat.
The children will enjoy watching the different birds, which they will be able to approach thanks to walkways that have been fitted out for a closer look.

Summer cinema for children in Calpe

In the summer months, some of Calpe’s beaches have a cinema called “Cinema a la mar” where, on a big screen, they show children’s films for the whole family, one of the plans that the little ones like best.
Check out the times and don’t miss your favourite films!

Now that you have a lot of plans to make with children in Calpe, which one did you like best?
